Leso is completing the installation of a new and laboratory, including $2m worth of front-line technology designed for plasma-assisted deposition of nanocomposite solar coatings, thin-film analysis and optical characterization.

This setup will be used for development and pilot production of new surface treatments and colors of SwissInso’s opaque solar thermal panels. In conjunction with this implementation, two new positions at Leso have been financed by SwissInso to run this nanotechnology research, a Postdoctoral scientist and a doctorate student.

Yves Ducommun, CEO of SwissInso, said: ”Due to this expansion of our R&D capabilities, we will be able to develop more leading-edge coatings and produce custom-designed colors in a more timely manner, thus responding very quickly and precisely to architectural requests for aesthetical curtain wall solar collecting solutions.”
