The panels were delivered to Chilean renewable energy firm Rijn Capital, which owns a pipeline of about 500 MW of solar PV projects in the country.

Situated in the Antofagasta Region of northern Chile, the San Pedro project features 110,400 JinkoSolar PV modules that will generate about 100GWh of energy per year.

CorpBanca provided $104m long term financing for the project, which was completed and connected to the grid in April this year.

Portuguese utility EFACEC provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.

EFACEC general manager of renewables business division Vitorino Rocha said: "We believe that this project will not only serve as an example of the application of renewable energy to the rest of the region but also demonstrate EFACEC’s commitment to providing quality and customised solutions to each project it works on."

JinkoSolar chairman Xiande Li said: "We are growing our market share and reinforcing our leadership position in Chile and other emerging PV markets with this project."
