“Our main replacement program is designed to rehabilitate the area’s deteriorating water infrastructure. Many of the pipes we are replacing are approximately 75 to 85 years old and are small in comparison to today’s water main standards,” said Larry Lambo, Pennsylvania American Water manager of field operations, Northwest Pennsylvania. “These investments reflect our commitment to ensure quality, reliable water service for Butler County customers.”

Recently, Pennsylvania American Water started installing more than 2,100 feet of eight-inch ductile iron main to replace aging two-inch cast iron pipe along Sumner, Maple and Donaghy Avenues in the City of Butler and along Bellfield Drive in Butler Township.

Pennsylvania American Water expects to complete final paving restoration for all the projects by late summer. In 2008, Pennsylvania American Water invested around $1.45 million in the district and replaced nearly two miles of water main.
