The $7.3m contract requires Xylem to design, install and commission an expansion and upgrade of the existing Wedeco ozone systems at the Tubli Water Pollution Control Centre (TWPCC).
The upgrade will allow the Tubli facility to become the largest ozone wastewater treatment plant in the Middle East.
Xylem expects to complete the upgrade work in 16 months and the new facility is expected to start operations by the end of 2015.
The upgraded facility will have the capacity to treat 240,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day.
Xylem said the enhanced wastewater reuse capacity is necessary for irrigation purposes in the area and will benefit the local agriculture as well as horticulture industries.
