As per the terms of the contract, 3sun will provide teams of technicians to complete offshore mechanical and electrical works of the wind turbines.

3sun will carry out the works from its bases located at Grimsby. The company expects to take about 14 weeks to complete the contract.

Energy firm E.ON UK is developing the wind farm, which is 8km east of Spurn Point, off the coast of the East Riding of Yorkshire, in the North Sea, England.

Located in water depths of about 15m, the wind farm will cover an area of around 25km².

After completion, the wind farm will generate enough energy for about 170,000 homes in the UK.

3sun Group renewables director Andrew Elmes said: "We are delighted to be able to work with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind again on their return to the UK offshore market and to win this contract.

"We have over 13 years’ experience of offshore wind project work in the UK and abroad and we look forward to sharing this on the Humber Gateway project;using the professionalism and expertise of our technicians to support the MHI Vestas team."

The installation of the first turbine at Humber Gateway was completed in July 2014 and the project is expected to be completed in spring 2015.
