Located in Bahia State, the 355.5MW wind complex will generate enough electricity for about 700,000 people.

Under the contract, Alstom will deliver, erect and commission ECO 122, ECO 110 and ECO 100 wind turbines at the complex between January 2017 and January 2018.

The deal is part of an agreement the companies signed in 2013, under which Alstom committed to supply over 440 wind turbines for a minimum installed capacity of 1.5GW.

The agreement also includes more than €1bn of operation and maintenance services.

Alstom said it will produce the wind turbines at its manufacturing unit in Camaçari and the contract takes its Brazilian wind backlog to 2.5GW.

Alstom Wind business senior vice president Yves Rannou said: "Our partnership with Renova Energia is one of the largest onshore agreements in the wind industry globally.

"This new order confirms the positive development of this agreement, which aims to offer sustainable and clean energy to the population."
