The company, during 2008, constructed over 100 turbines at Whitelee wind farm, near Glasgow. The wind farm will consist of 140 turbines by summer 2009.

The company also received consent for their first offshore windfarm, the 500 MW West of Duddon Sands project near Barrow-in-Furness, and announced feasibility plans for the largest tidal stream projects in the world at sites in Scotland.

ScottishPower Director Keith Anderson said: “The past year has seen incredible growth for the business, and the fact that we have nearly doubled our installed capacity is down to the hard work of all our teams who look after projects stretching from Cornwall to Caithness. We have grown from a workforce of 90 to 140 in this time, and prospects for future growth remain strong with major interests in Offshore and Marine renewables.
