WoDS Transmission is a 50/50 joint venture between Macquarie and 3i Infrastructure, while West of Duddon Sands was established by Dong Energy and ScottishPower Renewables, with 50% ownership.

The assets considered for sale include the onshore substation, export cables and the offshore substation.

As part of the deal, which will comply with the UK’s Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) regime, Dong Energy and ScottishPower will also be responsible for operations and maintenance services for the transmission link.

The 389MW West of Duddon Sands wind farm is located approximately located approximately 15km off Walney Island, Cumbria, in the Irish Sea in the UK.

Located in the vicinity of nearby operational wind farms including Barrow, Walney and Ormonde, the €2bn project features more than 200km of undersea cables.

Covering 67km2 of total area, the facility also features 108 Siemens 3.6MW wind turbines to generate enough power to supply for approximately 270,000 homes. The facility was commissioned in 2014.
