The pipeline construction will be jointly funded by China and Pakistan.

Also, Pakistan plans to provide China access to its port, and use the finances to fund the completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told Radio Pakistan.

The country would address energy crises by importing gas worth $2.5bn from Iran annually through the pipeline.

Scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2020, the Iranian pipeline project is expected to deliver 750 million ft3 of gas per day.

Financial Times cited Abbasi as saying that the country is currently facing a deficit of 2 billion ft3 of gas per day, which would rises to 2.5 billion ft3 during winter months.
