Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation has won a E32 million contract from Votorantim Cimentos for a hydropower plant at Pedra do Cavalo in the state of Bahia. The power plant will be equipped with two Francis turbines, each generating 82.5 MWe at a head of 105 m, and two generators with an output of 90 MVA each. Commissioning for both units is planned between August and October 2004.
