GE Power Systems has won a contract worth around E38 million to supply three gas turbine generators for a combined cycle power plant that will provide 175 MW to a petrochemical site being developed in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. The plant is being built by the Korean company Daelim Industrial Co Ltd for a joint venture composed of the German company BASF and China Petroleum and Chemical Corp. The three MS6001B gas turbines for the plant will be manufactured by GE in Essen, Germany. The equipment is scheduled for shipment to the site in April 2003, with commercial operation due in July 2004. The units will initially burn natural gas with naphtha as backup.
