Marchwood Power Development Ltd has appointed PB Power as owner’s engineer for construction of an 800 MW combined cycle gas-fired power plant at Marchwood, Southampton. The station will comprise two large frame gas turbines with heat recovery steam generators and a single steam turbine. Power will be delivered at 400 kV to the national grid. The plant is scheduled to enter service early in 2004. The consultants will be responsible for preparation of the EPC technical specification and enquiry documentation, evaluation of tenders, project management, review of design documentation and supervision of construction, commissioning and handover of the power station. PB Power has already carried out the Environmental Impact Assessment for the project.
