The partnership is aimed at selection and utilisation of advanced enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques at its Priobskoye field.
Throughout 2018–2020, DeGolyer and MacNaughton will analyze the Priobskoye field’s history since its discovery, and assess the potential for increasing production and the oil recovery factor (ORF).
Additionally, the firm will prepare recommendations and address immediate challenges and problems in developing the Yuzhny (Southern) license block at the Priobskoye field.
Gazprom said that the team will commence the process of analyzing the appropriate technologies to be used and develop alternative approaches for solving field development problems.
Gazprom Neft first deputy CEO Vadim Yakovlev said: “Gazprom Neft has been working with DeGolyer and MacNaughton for more than 10 years.
“The unique competencies accumulated by the company during annual reserves audits has become a key component in our joint project to study the potential of the Priobskoye field, initiated in 2016.
“I have every confidence that this new agreement will allow our companies to further strengthen their cooperation and, ultimately, significantly improve efficiency in developing one of our largest production assets.”
Gazprom Neft expects the full implementation of proposed programs with D&M will allow Priobskoye field reserves to be brought into development while enhancing oil recovery through existing well stock. It is also expected to increase the ORF by 5% to 6%.
In an effort to implement the project, DeGolyer and MacNaughton intends to open an office in St Petersburg in 2018.
Gazprom Neft is primarily involved in oil and gas exploration and production, refining, and the production and sale of oil products.
Gazprom PJSC is the main shareholder of Gazprom Neft with 95.68% interest while the remaining shares are in free circulation.
