Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (IEA) has finalized a $65m contract for the construction of a 150 MW wind farm in Northern Iowa.
The contract was awarded to White Construction, a subsidiary of IEA that manages utility-scale renewable energy and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
The wind farm is expected to be completed in November 2020.
Upon entering into operations, it will produce roughly 600,000MWh of electricity each year, or enough energy to power roughly 70,000 homes.
All of the engineering, procurement and construction requirements of the project will be self-performed by White Construction.
The activities will include the building of access roads, the erection of wind generators, the installation of turbine foundations, and the construction of project substations and a medium-voltage collection system.
IEA’s president and chief executive officer JP Roehm said: “IEA is committed to providing state-of-the-art, sustainable energy solutions to each of our clients.
“We are very pleased to be able to support this newest wind farm project that will bring reliable, affordable energy to Iowa, while also contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in the state.”
IEA secured contract for Blooming Grove Wind Energy Center in January
The infrastructure construction company claims to have assembled more than 7,200 wind turbines across North America.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the company’s service offering spans the entire construction process, with delivery models including full engineering, procurement, and construction, turnkey, design-build, balance of plant, and subcontracting services.
In January, the company won a contract to construct the 250MW Blooming Grove Wind Energy Center in McLean County, Illinois.
The scope of IEA’s work on the wind project includes construction of project roads, turbine foundations, and erection of turbines.
The wind farm will be powered by 94 turbines.
