The ‘Hoort’ wind farm, to the south of Schwerin, is a joint project by wind farm developer LOSCON, and mea Energieagentur Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a wholly owned subsidiary of the municipal utility WEMAG.

Under the order, Nordex will supply 16 N117/3600 turbines – 10 to LOSCON and six to mea. The company will manufacture the turbines at its Rostock plant.

The order also includes Premium Service contracts, each for a 15-year period, with an option for a five-year extension.

Nordex will establish a service point for maintenance of the wind farm.

The ‘Hoort’ project was awarded contracts in August 2018 in the third bidding round for onshore wind turbines in Germany.

With an installed capacity of 57.6MW, ‘Hoort’ will be the largest wind field currently under construction in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Each of the 16 turbines in ‘Hoort’ will have rotor diameter of 117 metres and hub heights of 141 metres. The turbines will produce around 150,000MW hours of clean energy a year.

Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2018 and the turbines will be installed in the summer of 2019.

In October 2018, the Nordex Group received orders from OX2, Nordic’s largest project developer, for four projects in Finland, with a total installed capacity of 107.4MW.

IKEA Retail Finland, belonging to the INGKA Group, is funding the construction, and intends to acquire the projects when they are operational in the first quarter of 2020.

The company will supply 25 of the new N149/4.0-4.5 turbines for the wind farms Långmossa (seven turbines), Ribäcken (five turbines), Ponsivuori (seven turbines) and Verhonkulma (six turbines).

Nordex will commence installation of the turbines in 2019.

The turbines for the project in Ponsivuori will also be equipped with an anti-icing system.

The orders include a premium service and maintenance contract for 25 years for each project.
