Abu Dhabi
• Mott MacDonald has been appointed project manager by Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority to upgrade a number of power sites. The project involves upgrading 11 kV systems and provision of new standby gensets. Construction is due by 2001 for phase 1 and 2002 for phase 2.
Canada
• Alcatel won a e35 million contract to provide power cables to SaskPower. The power cables will be supplied through to 2006.
Denmark
• Vestas won a $32.3 million order from Dansk Vindkraft Enterprise for 56 wind turbines. The order will not influence the expectations for Vestas Group’s results for 2000.
France
• Dresser-Rand won a contract to supply the gas turbine packages for Tractebel’s cogeneration project in Le Lardin St Lazare in Dordogne. Dresser-Rand will supply two DR62G gas turbine packages, using GE LM6000 PD gas turbine.
Germany
• GE Power Systems won a $20 million contract to supply a MS9001E gas turbine for a new 118 MW cogeneration plant at Burghausen in southeastern Germany. The plant is due to enter commercial service in the middle of 2001.
Hungary
• GE Power Systems won a $19 million contract to supply an MS6001FA gas turbine for a 110 MWe power plant at Ujpest near Budapest. Fortum is developing the project. The new combined cycle power plant is due for commercial start-up in November, 2001.
India
• Mitsui Babcock won a $8 million contract to supply two 130 TPH Bagasse-fired boilers, to sugar plant cogeneration projects in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The contract in Andhra Pradesh for Gyatri Sugar Complex is for 22 MW, using coal as a back-up fuel to bagasse. The Karanataka contract is for Godavari Sugar Mill, a 24 MW plant. Both plants are due for completion by the middle of 2001.
• Mitsui Babcock won an EPC contract for the 420 MWe phase 2 at Bakreswar power plant.
Kazakhstan
• GE Power Systems won a $77 million contract to supply an 80 MWe power plant in the Karachaganak oil and gas field. GE will supply two MS6001B gas turbines.
Malaysia
• STEAG won a contract to develop a 300 MWe gas-fired power plant for NusantaraSteel Group of Malaysia to provide captive power for Nusanatara’s integrated steel mill complex in Kudat, in Sabah state. The power plant is due to be operational by late 2003.
Mexico
• ABB Alstom Power and Sithe Energies secured financing for the 230 MWe Termoelectrica del Golfo plant to be built at Tamuin in San Luis Potosi state for CEMEX. The plant is due to start by the end of 2002.
• Mouchel won the design and contract preparation for civil and structural works on the cooling water system at Rosarito III power station.
• Iberdrola of Spain won a $500 million contract for a 388 MWe power plant at Monterrey.
Philippines
• The Export Credits Guarantee Department will back $120 million loans to help BG Group develop the San Lorenzo 500 MWe CCGT plant at Batangas
Saudi Arabia
• GE Power Systems won a $20.8 million contract to supply two 40 MWe MS6001B gas turbines for the expansion of the Tabarjal power plant in northern Saudi Arabia. The two turbines will be shipped to Saudi Arabia in May and June 2000. Both will be used in simple cycle, using light distillate as the primary fuel and crude oil as a back-up.
Spain
• Rolls-Royce won a £4.8 million contract to supply an RB211 genset to Spanish company Abener Energia for use at its site in Curtis in Galicia. The gas turbine will provide 25 MWe for Abener Energia’s new ethanol production plant and is due to be commissioned in April 2001.
• Enron will build a 1600 MWe combined cycle power plant in Mora la Nova, Cataluña.
Taiwan
• Mitsui Babcock won a $100 million contract for the boiler design and supply for the two 550 MWe unit extension to the coal-fired Taichung power plant. Eight units are already in operation at the site.
Thailand
• Elektrowatt-Ekono won a E8.9 million contract from ABB Alstom Power for engineering and construction of the balance of plant for the 110 MWe combined-cycle power plant in Amata Nakom Industrial Park.
Turkey
• GE Power Systems won contracts worth $900 million to supply ten MS9001FA gas turbines for three new combined cycle power plants that will produce nearly 4 GWe, increasing Turkey’s capacity by 17 per cent. Two of the plants, Gebze and Adapazari, are east of Istanbul, and are due to enter commercial operation in July 2002 and September 2002 respectively. The third plant, Izmir, is on the Aegean coast, will begin commercial operation in March 2003.
UK
• Scottish Power won a contract to build a 45 MW gas-fired CHP plant at Irvine, Ayrshire from SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals.
USA
• Framatome Technologies Inc (FTI) won a contract to perform steam generation examination and repair services at South Carolina Electric & Gas’ V C Summer nuclear power station.
• Dresser-Rand will supply a 45 MWe steam turbine for the Pinnacle West Energy combined cycle plant in Phoenix, Arizona. Plant start-up is due for June 2001.
• ABB Alstom Power won an e80 million contract to supply MidAtlantic with three GT11N2 115 MWe gas turbines to Defiance, Ohio.
• Dynegy announced phase 2 development of the Calcasieu gas-fired peaking plant in Louisiana. The 165 MWe gas turbine will be completed by mid 2001.
