A2SEA’s SEA CHALLENGER vessel completed the installation of 97 Siemens’ 6MW wind turbines at the site.
A2SEA CEO Jens Frederik Hansen said: "The turbine installation has progressed seamlessly and as planned throughout the winter.
"We experienced some rough and challenging weather during January and February but thanks to the entire project team including our experienced crew both offshore and onshore and our partners on the project, Siemens Wind Power and client DONG Energy, we managed to deliver safely, on time and on budget."
Gode Wind 1 + 2 is owned by Dong Energy, PKA, Industriens Pension, Laerernes Pension, Laegernes Pensionkasse and Global Infrastructure Partners. The total estimated cost of the project is €1.2bn.
The total capacity of the Gode Wind 1+ 2 offshore wind farm is 582MW and it can generate enough power to meet the needs of about 600,000 German households.
It is estimated that this wind farm can help in reducing more than 800,000 tonnes of CO2 and about 20,000 tonnes of SO2 per year. The expected life of this offshore wind farm is 25 years.
The construction of the project began in 2010 following receipt of approval in 2009. As the installation of the turbines is now complete, now the next stage is testing the wind turbines and commissioning the wind farm.
The next project for A2SEA will be at the 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm in UK. Statoil, Masdar and Statkraft own the Dudgeon offshore wind farm.
The construction of this project will begin in September 2016 and the turbine installation will start in 2017.
