The company, which introduced two new production lines, ‘C’ and ‘D’ for automated equipment in 2009, started the upgrade work with additional investment in automated equipment to further meet the demand for its battery products.

ABAT expects the newly upgraded lines that will match the production capabilities of the previously completed ‘C’ and ‘D’ lines, to be able to manufacture the full range of the company’s rechargeable polymer lithium-ion batteries.

The company has recently secured a polymer lithium-ion phosphate battery supply contract from Hengmin Opto-electrical Tech and will make use of its expanded capacity to fulfil this particular order and future contracts from its battery clients.

ABAT CEO Zhiguo Fu said that the company is pleased with the completion of this production upgrade, which it began almost a year ago.

“This expansion, along with the recently announced $5.7m contract with Hengmin Opto-electrical Tech, further exemplifies our dedication to meet the demands of our clients,” Fu said.
