The company has supplied a complete set of production hoist and a man hoist, including mechanical, control and drive systems, and shaft equipment.

The production hoist is said to raise 416 tons of ore per hour at a speed of 17m per second.

Both the hoists will help Boliden increase its production from 1.4 to 2.5 million tons per year at the mine, according to ABB.

They will be operated from a control center through an 800xA Control System, which can connect all equipment and systems to automate the production and administration of the mine.

ABB Underground Mining Global Market Segment head Andreas Malmport said: "The main benefits for the customer are increased productivity, higher energy efficiency and improved safety."

Additionally, ABB delivered the mill drives and the automation system for the concentrator plant at the project.

By 2015-end, Boliden seeks to double the annual production at the Garpenberg mine with an investment of SEK3.9bn ($588m). Complex ore containing zinc, copper, lead, gold and silver is mined at the site.
