Under the contract signed with Hitachi Zosen Inovam, ABB will provide Symphony Plus platform-based fully integrated control system to enable rapid adjustment to combustion conditions.

The system will be supplied in pre-assembled, factory-tested modules to facilitate rapid delivery and easy installation.

ABB’s Power Systems business president Claudio Facchin said: "We are pleased to support these waste-to-energy projects that help lower environmental impact and support our vision for a ‘better world’.

"Our technology offering and domain expertise enables us to support these projects across the value chain from engineering and project execution to life cycle support."

Being developed by Hitachi Zosen Inova for the West London Waste Authority, the 37MW Severnside facility can process up to 400,000 metric tons of municipal solid waste a year.

The 18MW Poznan plant, planned to be commissioned next year, has a capacity to process 210,000 metric tons of waste to generate power.
