The four substations will transmit electricity from new power generation plants in the region as part of a program to strengthen the transmission network of the Indian state of Haryana. The Haryana power system improvement project has financial support from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
ABB will deliver four 220kV air-insulated substations equipped with IEC 61850-compliant automation, protection and control systems. The scope of the project covers design, supply, installation and commissioning of the substations and associated equipment, which includes switchgear and power transformers.
Peter Leupp, head of power systems division at ABB, said: “These substations will help to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the transmission network in the state, improving power supplies to consumers and supporting economic development in the region.”
