The plant started operations on 1 February 2012 and the firms have planned for the Solacor 2 to come online in the near future.

Abengoa said it will operate both facilities and will retain a 74% stake in the projects.

These two plants, with a total of 121,000 installed mirrors combined, concentrate sunlight and generate steam at a temperature of 400 degrees.

The steam drives two 50MW turbines which generate electricity.

Abengoa will operate both facilities and will retain a 74% stake in the projects.

The plants will prevent about 63,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year, enough to provide electricity to 52,000 households.

Abengoa Solar focuses its activity on the development and application of technology for generating electrical power with the sun.
