Under the €23m contract, Abengoa will be responsible for the engineering, design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of the 210km power transmission line while ensuring quality at every stage.

The contract will allow a part of the country’s energy demand to be supplied in an efficient and sustainable way, as well as improve the interconnection with Algeria.

Scheduled to come into operation in 2016, the project would enhance the connection of the Moroccan power grid with the Algerian network.

The project consists of three 400kV sections including Matmata-Msoun, Msoun-Gteter and Bourdim-Jerada, which are 80km, 80km and 50km respectively and are located in the northern part of the country.

Abengoa has more than 30,000km in these types of transmission projects.
