The loan, which will be provided by Corporación Andina de Fomento and DNB Group, will be used for the Talas de Maciel facility in Flores Department, Uruguay as well as for repaying a $60m bridge loan for the project.

Abengoa subsidiary Cadonal completed the facility, which is undergoing tests, two months ahead of schedule.

Power generated from the project will be sold to the national electricity company UTE (Administración Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Eléctricas).

The output from the wind farm will be delivered to the national power grid through a substation at the site that is connected to the Cerro Colorado substation, which in turn will be linked to the Trinidad station via a 150 kV high voltage line.

The wind facility is expected to meet the needs of about 74,000 inhabitants per year while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 118,500 tons of CO2 equivalent.
Abengoa’s projects in Uruguay include the extension and remodeling of the drinking water plant in Aguas Corrientes and the Montevideo to San Carlos transmission line.
