As per the agreed terms, Abengoa will design, construct the proposed plant, and will be responsible for the operation and maintenance at the plant, for a period of 30 years.

The project will have the capacity to process about 180,000 tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) annually. A gasification based process will be utilized that will allow the maximum use of MSW fractions.

About 350 tons of gas will be produced each day that will be used to generate 15MW of electricity.

Construction phase of the waste-to-energy plant is expected to create around 50 jobs.

Abengoa applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the energy and environment sectors, generating electricity from the sun, producing biofuels, desalinating sea water and recycling industrial waste.
