“We are awaiting government approval to set up the plant,” Al Mansoury said, adding that the organisational structure of the Society is being revamped with greater emphasis on recycling fish.

“Our plan is to attract more people to eat fish which is more healthy and nutritious than meat which leads to obesity,” Al Mansoury said.

The society is educating fishermen on the need to protect the marine environment and not to throw plastic bags, bottles or cigarette butts into the sea, which harms the coral reef.
