wind turbines

The Green Pastures wind project, located on over 18,000 acres in Baylor and Knox counties in North Texas, is managed by the global asset manager, Capital Dynamics.

The first phase includes installation of 50 3MW AW 116/3000 turbines, which will enter service in March 2015 while the second phase has a generation capacity of 150MW.

The wind turbines feature 116m-diameter rotors to provide optimum performance within a wide range of wind speeds, and will be installed on 92m-high steel towers.

The financing for the first phase of the Green Pastures wind complex has already been completed by Capital Dynamics and Prudential Capital Group.

Capable of generating enough electricity to power 110,000 homes, the onshore wind farm will avoid approximately 813,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year, the equivalent of annual emissions from 170,000 passenger vehicles.

Acciona Windpower will also be responsible to provide operation and maintenance services for 10 years.

Acciona Windpower North America CEO Enrique Teruel said: "ACCIONA Windpower gives this project a competitive advantage that is decisive in the North American wind power market nowadays."

Acciona Windpower signed contracts for AW 3000 wind turbines in Brazil, the US, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Chile and Poland.
