The bidding follows a 500MW tender issued by Southern Power Distribution Company Limited of Andhra Pradesh (APSPDCL) under the request for proposal (RFP).

The 160MW of solar projects, estimated to cost $210m, will be developed in the Anantapur, Kurnool and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh.

ACME Group will also sign a 25-year long power purchase agreement (PPA) with Andhra Pradesh (AP) Discom on bid tariff, as per the bidding document terms and conditions.

ACME Group founder and chairman Manoj Kumar Upadhyay said: "This win is the country’s largest win by any private solar developer.

"With this addition, our solar power portfolio has reached ­­­422.5 MW and we are on way to generate 1000 MW by year 2017.

Earlier this month, ACME Group received final approval from Asian Development Bank for credit facility of $100m, of which $50m will be used to develop 100MW projects in Rajasthan, India, while the remaining amount will be used for its future projects.

ACME Group is planning to generate 1,000MW by the year 2017.
