As part of the a mobile continuous power solutions fleet made up of containerized UPS systems and generators, the new systems will enable the power utility to provide critical power protection where it’s needed most with rapid deployment and redeployment capability, Active Power said.

Jinxiu Zhang, deputy director of Marketing and Business Development at Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, said: “Active Power’s flywheel UPS technology has a very small footprint compared to conventional systems, making it possible for us to incorporate UPS equipment in a limited amount of space.

“The system is also flexible which works well with our existing containerized gensets. In all, these mobile solutions add to our product offering and serve as an additional revenue stream for our rental business.”

Jim Clishem, president and CEO, Active Power, said: “This order validates the market’s demand for continuous power solutions that are energy and space efficient and environmental friendly, which are all attributes inherent in our product lines.”
