The company plans to enter the federal approval process with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission by applying for a combined construction and operating license for an advanced nuclear power plant.
AEHI claimed the company is now the first publicly-traded independent-power producer to receive local nuclear site approval in the US.
The company also said the proposed nuclear power plant is the first to receive approval from Payette County Commissioners after the Japanese tsunami-caused event.
