The unit 3 at the Welsh facility can generate around 528 megawatts (MW) of power.

The company’s Welsh plant is situated in Cason in Titus County, about 130 miles east of Dallas. The plant can generate approximately 1,584 MW of electricity. One MW of power generated serves approximately 500 homes in Texas.

The facility comprises of three units, with a capacity of 528 MW each. The three units of the plant began rolling in 1977, 1980 and 1982. The power plant is owned and operated by the company’s subsidiary Southwest Electric Power.

AEP operates approximately 38,000MW of generating capacity, markets energy commodities, and transmits and distributes electricity to around five million customers in 11 states.
