The firm has sold of 50% stake of its subsidiary for $15.1m on 3 November 2011, reports Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv.

Aker Clean Carbon was established in 2007 to develop and market a technology using the chemical amine to strip carbon dioxide (CO2from exhaust gasses.

Aker Solutions’ acting CEO Oeyvind Eriksen said that with the market for the technology dead, shutting down Aker Clean Carbon was the only option.

Scottish Power, Aker Clean Carbon’s partner in one of the big projects has canceled its project.
