Imtech Traffic & Infra (Unit Energy), as the main contractor for one lot, will be responsible for the customer process right through to the exchange of the electricity and gas meter and the remediation.

The contract will also include logistics for the delivery of the electricity and gas meter and the contact with the customer.

The preparatory works are scheduled to commence in April 2015, while the installation begins from October 2015 and runs through to 2020.

The remaining meters will be replaced during 2021 to 2023.

The Dutch government aims to provide smart meter to 100% of Dutch consumers by 2020, as part of the 2020 climate objectives set by European Commission.

The 2020 climate objectives intend to provide smart meters to 80% inhabitants by the end of 2020.

The smart meters will offer the consumers with opportunity to gain more insight into energy consumption, generation of their own energy, and energy feed-in, the company said.
