With an annual production capacity of 4,000MW, the 185,000m² facility will produce equipment for major power projects in the country.

The plant currently employs more than 250 people and the count is expected to increase to 650.

Bharat Forge chairman and managing director Baba Kalyani said: "This reaffirms our commitment to strengthening India’s Infrastructure backbone in the years ahead."

With this project, ABFPL will be able to enhance its capabilities in India and accelerate its shift to ultra-supercritical technology.

The manufacturing plant implements strict processes and practices, to ensure reliability, performance and quality.

Alstom-Bharat Forge Power CEO and managing director Alain Spohr said: "Alstom and Bharat Forge are delighted to be announcing the commencement of operations at its manufacturing facility in Gujarat and support the Indian Government’s vision to promote supercritical and ultra-supercritical technology."

The facility is planned to commence first deliveries by the end of this year.
