Keppel Verolme installed the floating, self-erecting substation at the site. The substation has been designed by Overdick on the Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB).

The substation will connect the wind turbines to the grid connection point.

As part of the project, Alstom delivered high voltage equipment, power transformers, as well as the protection and control systems, while Keppel Verolme performed the detailed engineering, construction work and offshore installation.

Alstom Grid project leader Florian Zschoge said the platform concept is an alternative to the traditional topside-jacket-installations and it can become one standard solution in the offshore wind business.

"This is certainly another important contribution to the German energy turnaround," Zschoge added.

Alstom Grid will be responsible for the electrical substation equipment, including all required design studies and calculations.
