The new blade is designed specifically for Alstom’s next generation 6MW offshore wind turbine, which has been optimized for the UK’s Crown Estate Round 3 and other North Sea markets.
The prototype blades will be produced at LM Wind Power’s Danish factory in Lunderskov and will be ready for installation at Alstom prototype sites in Europe to start testing later this year.
Alstom Power vice president of wind business Alfonso Faubel said that LM Wind Power’s technology perfectly complements Alstom’s wind turbine development capability.
