The contract, awarded by Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), covers replacement of ageing and defective substation equipment with new, advanced technology, including 132kV and 33kV outdoor circuit breaker, isolator, lightning arrestors, relay control panels and so on.

The new equipment will strengthen the substations and therefore, stabilise the transmission network in Bihar.

Alstom said that the project will strengthen the transmission system and enhance the power evacuation capacity under India’s 12th Five-Year Plan.

Major equipment for the project will be provided from the company’s various manufacturing facilities across India.
