Spanning an area of 9.390m2, the new project will feature the factory, a building for the offices and a new test laboratory for testing bushings for high voltage direct and alternating current transformers.

To be built with an investment of €34m, the project is aimed at catering needs of power transformer manufacturers worldwide as well as wall bushings used in worldwide utilities DC yards.

The company will allocate €11m of the total investment to develop and industrialize technologies such as high voltage direct current (HVDC) and resin impregnated paper (RIP).

Once operational, the new project will become Alstom Grid’s Bushings worldwide competence centre for R&D and production of transformer bushings (direct and alternating current), wall bushings, gas insulated substation bushings and high-voltage generator bushings, the company claims.

The new project will employ around 120 people, 30 of them will focus on R&D activities. Additionally, it will also host all operations currently based in Alstom Grid’s Milan unit.
