Under the €20m contract, Alstom T&D India will also expand the existing 400/220 kV substation in Bikaner in Rajasthan to facilitate the exchange of solar power generation with the national grid.

The Bhadla 400kV grid substation will help evacuate power from the Bhadla solar park and other upcoming solar parks in the area.

Alstom T&D India will be responsible for the designing, engineering, manufacturing, installing and commissioning of the Bhadla 400/220kV substation, including 20 400kV bays and 17 220kV bays.

The Bikaner expansion project will include supply of eight 400kV bays, transformers, circuit breakers, control and protection relays and substation automation system.

The company will manufacture the equipment at its manufacturing facilities in India.

The projects are part of the state government’s efforts to upgrade infrastructure for the transmission of clean energy to the national grid.
