Under the contract worth €18m, Alstom will be responsible for project engineering, supply and installation of main inlet valves, a vertical Francis turbine, alternator, control systems and other equipment for the Iveland II plant.

With this project, the Iveland II plant will receive 50MW of additional power and generate around 150GWh of electricity, which is enough to power a population of 30,000.

The company’s facilities in Galindo (Vizcaya, Spain) and Cornella (Barcelona, Spain) will provide engineering services and supply generation equipment.

The company’s Spanish team has participated in the development of more than nine hydropower plants in Norway, supplying equipment for a total installed capacity of around 300MW.

The latest contract is the sixth international contract the company’s Spanish teams received in 2013. The teams were awarded the engineering and supply of equipment for three other plants in Turkey and two in Albania.

The Spanish hydro facilities are specialized in small to medium output size power hydroelectric projects and are destined 90% of production to export projects, mainly in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
