Thee gas turbines will be used at Huaneng Power International’s (HPI) 517MW Tongxiang combined cycle power plant located in the Chinese province of Zhejiang.

The two new turbines are expected to enter commercial operation by the end of 2013.

Alstom said the GT13E2 gas turbine is the largest and most efficient turbine of its class in the market.

As a result of its high efficiency, the company notes that the turbine benefits its customers with a low operation cost, fuel savings and reduced emissions.

The latest contract marks Alstom’s second gas turbine order awarded by HTC within six months. Alstom is already building a gas-fired power plant in Singapore for Tuas Power Generation (TPG), a fully-owned subsidiary of HPI.

Alstom Gas Business senior VP Mark Coxon stated, "Our Chinese customer has shown their continued trust in our gas turbine solutions to secure high efficiency, high availability and reliable service. With this contract, we are looking towards broader opportunities in the Chinese gas turbine market."
