The main order for 5x51MW Kaplan turbines for the Bujagali hydroelectric power station was awarded by Salini to the Alstom Group. For this project, Alstom Projects India (APIL) will be executing the orders worth INR3.5 billion.

The offshore scope of work for this project includes design, manufacture and supply of turbine, generator, balance of plant and hydromechanical equipment. This will be executed at APIL’s hydro facility at Vadodara, India. The onshore scope of work for this project will include erection, commissioning and handing over of the supplied portion.

Emmanuel Colombier, managing director and vice chairman of APIL, said: We are proud to receive these prestigious international orders. APIL will complete the design, engineering and supply of the HRSG order by June 2009 and the hydro order by June 2011. These international orders further strengthen APIL’s portfolio of projects and emphasize its positioning and capabilities as a global player.
