The facilities are located near AltaGas’ 195MW Forrest Kerr project, which is currently under construction, and collectively the projects are known as the Northwest Projects.

The Northwest Projects, which are expected to cost about $1bn, will be constructed solely within Tahltan Nation traditional territory.

The Forrest Kerr project is expected to begin operation in 2014, followed by McLymont Creek in 2015 and Volcano Creek in 2016.

Once completed, the projects will deliver electricity to the terminus point of the 287kV Northwest Transmission Line near Bob Quinn in British Columbia.

AltaGas is an energy infrastructure business with a focus on natural gas, power and regulated utilities.
