The amounts to over 500 units manufactured in under six months. The units are aimed at the mission-critical telecoms backup power market. The company has also reported that their high-rate, low cost manufacturing line has not been burdened by the high rate of output and that Altergy anticipates building over 10 MW of Freedom Power Systems this year, all for telecoms backup power.

Altergy’s senior vice president of business development, Mickey Oros, told Fuel Cell Today, ‘When the telecom companies try this new burgeoning technology they really see the difference and move to implement. Once installed they discover that these devices in their daily operation are a very cost-effective solution’.
