AmbientNMS manages communications between grid devices and the utility operations center.
It also offers a suite of software applications for real-time grid monitoring and management.
By using the cloud-based version of AmbientNMS, utilities can quickly add the required computing resources to manage vital communications for smart grid applications.
Ambient president and CEO John Joyce said configurations can be selected to suit each customer using cloud services.
"This option from Ambient acknowledges that each utility’s initial requirements are different and will develop at differing rates of over time," Joyce said.
Ambient designs, develops and sells the Ambient Smart Grid communications and applications platform.
The platform includes communications nodes, a network management system, AmbientNMS, integrated applications and maintenance as well as consulting services.
