Under the contract, Amec Foster Wheeler will be responsible for concept selection studies, technical design and procurement and construction strategies for the project.

The company will also undertake project implementation plans, capital cost estimate and schedule.

The project will be developed as part of the Tasi Mane project, which is being managed by Timor-Leste’s national oil company Timor Gap.

Located along 155km of Timor-Leste’s southern coast, the Tasi Mane project comprises three clusters, including Suai supply base, the Betano refinery and the Beaço LNG plant.

Amec Foster Wheeler Asia, Middle East, Africa and southern Europe president Roberto Penno said: "Our LNG centre of excellence in the UK will work closely with our in-country teams to deliver this work safely and sustainably."

The LNG plant will process the gas delivered from the Timor Sea through natural gas pipeline.
