As part of the $7.3m project, Ameresco will provide energy efficiency upgrades to ten schools in Shenandoah County, as well as the school division’s bus garage and maintenance shop.

Over a 16-year term, the company’s energy efficiency project is expected to provide annual energy savings of $480,000.

The company, in collaboration with Shenandoah County Public Schools, has completed the Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCB) application.

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, QSCB awarded an interest free $7.3m grant to the Shenandoah County Public Schools.

Ameresco vice president John Bosch said that the project is expected to bring energy savings to the county, reduce their carbon footprint and streamline maintenance tasks going forward.

The company said it has completed a thorough energy performance audit in order to better understand the 12 facilities baseline energy and other utility consumption.
