With this transaction, Anglo American’s controlling stake in the diamond mining firm has gone up to 85%.

The company has acquired the latest stake from CHL, representing the Oppenheimer family interests, as per the agreement signed by both firms in November 2011.

The total cash consideration comprises the agreed purchase price of $5.1bn and several adjustments as outlined in the agreement.

The remaining stake of 15% is held by the Government of the Republic of Botswana (GRB), said the company.

Anglo American’s mining and exploration activities and the pipeline of growth projects are spanned across southern Africa, South America, Australia, North America, Asia and Europe.
