Antero will provide around 30,000 barrels of ethane per day to the petrochemical complex, as part of the deal.

Ascent will utilise the ethane provided by Antero to manufacture polyethylene, which is an important resin used in the production of plastics products.

Antero Resources CEO Paul Rady said the announcement highlights one of the important benefits of shale gas production and demonstrates company’s commitment to the growth of downstream manufacturing in the Appalachian region.

"We are excited to work with our partners at Odebrecht and Braskem to help position Ascent as a catalyst for regional economic development," Rady added.
