Appalachian Energy will begin the installation of 336 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on the roof of the Jim Barkley Toyota building in September 2008.
The panels will be tied directly to the grid, allowing the company to sell electricity to Progress Energy. The 75KW installation will be completed by the end of 2008.
Jim Barkley, CEO of Jim Barkley Toyota, said: It was a business decision that made good financial sense based on the federal and state tax credits available, as well as the collaboration with Progress Energy and Appalachian Energy.
